The Red Garter has been purchased by the Wendover Nugget and is currently open and being remodeled. Free shuttle service is now available to and from the Red Garter. Mailer coupons are being sent on the same postcard as the Nugget. Currently the 2 players clubs are separate.

The Red Garter (better known as the Red Gutter by the locals) is a video poker wasteland with no card. The VPFree database listing FPDW here is incorrect. They haven't been there for years. The best game is 9/6 in dollars. The only saving grace of the Gutter is the $22 midweek room rate. It might not be your cup of tea but is easily tolerable for a guy who has slept under a few bridges in his life.

The Red Garter never had FPDW, at least not in years and years. The quarter DW on the west wall were Double Deuces (800,400,125,80,55,20,15,10,10,5) (99.6%) with progressives on the royal, quad 2's, and wild royal, but those machines were removed in early 2005. Now, the best VP is two quarter full-pay jacks-or-better (99.5%) machines next to the main cage. The cash back club has been inactive since

, because "the computer is down". I've heard rumors that the current club (non-club) will be replaced by a new system in 2006.

We just hit Four Deuces at The Red Garter for $536.25. There are 4 IGT uprights along west wall. The Bill Acceptors don't work and you have to hand fed quarters. The coins stick once in a while, so it can be slow going. The Pay Schedule is Full Pay with Progressive Jackpots for the Royal Flush, Four Deuces, and Wild Royal. There is also a Full Pay 9/6 Jacks or Better game for quarters at the front door entrance. There is a Triple Play 9/6 Jacks game for nickels near the stairs to the Snack Bar. These are the only "good" games.

The Red Garter Casino in Wendover, Nevada provides a unique casino expierience, harkening back to the old "sawdust joints" of Vegas. It has a small pit area offering craps, roulette, 3-card poker and blackjack (they proudly advertise that they are the only Wendover casino offering double-deck blackjack: "twice as many wins per shuffle"). They now have a new cash-back player's club system that offers patrons a few cents each time they win a jackpot (e.g. if you win a $1000 royal flush playing quarters, you win about $1 in Cashback). The Cashback is based on jackpots, not coin-in, so in my opinion is meaningless (they can't base it on coin-in because the machines don't have a card reader - each point-earning event requires a change person to come to the machine and verify the win.

As far as wendover there are very few full pay machines. most pay out around 96% The new state line Nugget has put in a huge inventory of game king VP there are dozens but we have not found full pay yet, and the 3 play and 5 play seem to pay around 94%. There are so many new machines that it will take quite a while for us to look at them all. At Montego bay we have found 2 full pay machines by the elevators and one upstairs by the skyway to the state line nugget. We havent found any full pay at the peppermill or the Rainbow, but since they have started putting in the tito machines there are a lot of new ones there too. The Peppermill, Rainbow and the New Montego bay have a new slot club program. All three now share the same card and its called the passport. The details are non existant but from playing and evaluating points earned it seems that 1$ in = one point and 100 points = 1$ CB. There no longer seems to be discresionary comps and its a bit harder now to get a free room. The Rainbow and Peppermill are still sending quarterly coupons, however I dont know how that will change with the Montego Bay added to the group. The grand opening for the Montego Bay is Oct 31-Nov. 3. The Montego has also added a pool and a day spa/fitness center. I was talking with one of the shuttle drivers saturday night and it seems there are some great new things comming to Wendover. There is a master plan for a new resort and light rail will be going in sometime in 2004. The changes for Wendover in general are fantastic and it is becoming more of a resort town instead of just a little border town. The State line Nugget, also has a new slot club program but I havent had time to evaluate it since we dont play there as often. The Nugget has added so many Game King multi play, multi denomination VP machines that there are more of those than slots.
