The lone 9/6 JoB machine by the big screen TV on main casino floor is gone now.

As of last night (1/09/08), I could no longer find any 9/6 JOB. Most are now 8/5, with a few 9/5 at the .25 level and up. Starting 1/10/08, all points on player's cards (Coyote Club) will be cut by half. On 1/11/08 all points will be redeemable at the rate of 350 points = $1. Previously it took 700 points to equal $1. Points will still accumulate at 1 point per $1. (let's see if they keep that up 6 months from now) Points can be used as free play at any time, redeemed as cash on certain days of the week, or used for food, hotel rooms, or in the gift shop any time. Cash back is really spotty. They average your number of days per month, with your coin in. They then average your past 3 months. I have learned the hard way, that $5,000 coin in twice a month, will get you no more than $5,000 coin in twice a week. This play usually gets you about $50 a week in cash back, but it is not consistent month to month.

Spit Mountain still has ONE (count it, ONE) 9/6 JOB. It's near where it used to be, by the sports bar big screen. It looks just like all the others, but the paytable is (probably erroneously) 9/6 instead of 9/5 like all the others in the casino. It can be played 10-coin for quarters, and in a somewhat strange twist, the RF pays 800-1 even when not playing max coin. Not that this one machine is worth making a trip out there for, since every single other game sucks, and the slot club is pathetic.

I checked schedules on about every video poker machine there. All of the 9/6 JOB were MIA at all denominations. The best I could find is 9/5 JOB scattered around the casino.

The casino is a long drive from Portland metro area (about 60 miles or so depending on where you live). It is the closest casino from Portland metro area, though. The next closest casino is Chinook Winds casino in Lincoln City, which is another 40 mile drive away from Spirit Mountain casino. [Casino ambience] From outside, the building just looks like some kind of warehouse. It is a dull boxed shape. I have been there only on weekends. Both of time I was there, there was a good crowd of people. One interesting thing about casinos in Oregon is that alcohol is not allowed in Casino floors. The only place that you can drink is inside the bar. I still feel that this is very strange. [Food] They have a buffet, which is not really good. The selection is small and the arrangement is not really good. Far worse than Chinese buffer places near where I live. Yet, I have eaten there twice already mainly because there are not many other food options in the casino. They have a deli and some express food place. The quality and value of the food is so-so. [Poker room] This is a big poker room and very crowded on weekends. Poker players can accrue point on their club cards for a little less than a dollar per hour. I have only played low-limit hold'em games. The game is definitely easier than what I had experienced in poker rooms in Washington and Nevada. [Machine points] I don't know the exact point schedule. However, I was surprised to find out that my wife earned less points from playing machines than what I earned from poker room for the same period. [VP] I didn't have a chance to check all machines. I did look at some of them, though. And, I am pretty sure that the casino has no full-pay (or anything above 99% return) machines. I saw the following: - Double Bonus (800-50-160-80-50-9-6-5-3-1-1) by Poker room entrance. 5 cent, 25 cent or 1 dollar. max 10-coin (same payout for 5-coin) - 9/5 Jacks or Better scattered around casino were for 25c and higher (50 cent?). And I believe that they were 5-coin games instead of 10-coin games. BTW, all these games were on multi-game - location and game details are unknown.

The machines, both slots and VP give one point for every $1 coin in. They can be cashed in for food, in the gift shop, or used as free play on selected days (soon to be every day)at the rate of 700 points = $1. There are several 9/6 JOB in the casino @ .50 and $1 level. I can't vouch for other games at this time. The OP stated that the casino looked like a large box warehouse. I'm guessing you came in towards the side near the hotel. The front entrance, at the valet would have given you a whole different view. The OP also commented on the dining. I agree that the buffet isn't the greatest on some days, but each day (at dinner) the buffet is themed, so it changes daily. At $11.95 it's a great deal if you check their website to see what the theme is for the particular evening you are going, and then make a decision. The seafood buffet is on Wednesday nights, but the price is a little higher at $15.95. The seafood buffet is really good if you like shrimp, crab, salmon, mussels and clams...you name it. The buffet will soon be moving to the newest expansion that is still under construction. Richard Burr, the Executive Chef, assures me that the food will definitely be upgraded and expanded as soon as they move. The seating section will be doubled in size and the food selection will also grow. There is also a nice restaurant called Legends that you may have missed. Great food, especially steaks.

We go there about once a week or so. I found a carousel of Game King machines that will let me play .10 / 10 coins. On those machines, the JOB is 9/5. Occasionally, I'll find some 9/6 JOB for .25 and up. There is a non-smoking room. It's kinda small, but a nice break from all the smoke.
