Crystal Bay Club: The (5) $1/$2 MG/MD TITO Game King uprights in a round carousel between the cashier and the coffee shop. (JOB & DB) disappeared about 6 mos ago, replaced with slots. Still no one plays them, because they are very uncomfortable - machines are too high for the chairs. Their comp/cashback system is an either/or. stupid. Do you want $10 cash or $10 comp? They do have good live music, nice food, clean casino and occassional promos like the free bottle of wine with every $100 hand.

This casino has been open just one month, after having been closed (and for sale) for the past year. So far, they have done a very nice job. All machines appear to be brand new, ticket-in ticket-out games. They have the first "talking player's club" that I've experienced. That's right, when you insert you card into the machine it actually talks to you, welcoming you to the casino! That is certainly a first for me. The opening is still quite soft. The coffee shop is under construction. The parking deck is only open on the first floor. Finally, they have their player's club up and running . . . but no details whatsoever on what that means. They have not, as yet, made any decisions about cashback, comp rates, or much of anything else, according to the representative with whom I spoke. However . . . (drum roll please) . . . they have the best video poker inventory in North Lake Tahoe, and possibly the best inventory of any Lake Tahoe property. The one missing piece in all of this, of course, is the player's club and marketing program. It is still too soon to tell whether there will be some really solid Play at this property . . . Play actually worth making a trip to take advantage of. Still, it is nice to see that they have a good base of full-pay games to at least make such a play a possibility.
