Recent changes include: new and larger buffet, upscale steak restaurant (open Wed - Sun), new lounge, new hotel, etc. There are two card classes - Platinum members and VIPs. The VIPs get to enjoy the casino rate of $50 for the rooms ($100 for the suites) and these rooms can be paid with comp dollars. VIPs also get private mailers and special invites. To be a VIP, you need to generate generate $100K in action in a 6 month period. Each comp dollar require $650 in action or about 0.15%. However, gone forever are the wonderful trippple points on Wednesday. Also, I noticed their mailers have been drastically reduced during the past year. It's another sad case of a nice neighborhood casino that went upscale and the good opportunities disappear forever.

Colusa has 8/6 or 9/5 JOB in multi-line (130 quads on some).

Colusa casino is located off highway 45 (10 miles from I-5) and is expanding again following the expansion spree of nearby casinos. I went there memorial day and what a zoo. Going north on I-5, get off at Williams, take the Clear Lake exit, and go right on route 20 through Colusa, and go north north for 3 miles on Highway 45. Going south on I-5, then I would recommend the Maxwell exit and take the ? road to highway 45 and go south 1 to 2 mile(s). Colusa has 750 slot machines and the selection of VP is horrible. For example, Pot of Gold offer $0.25 progressive RF with 6/5 JOB where quads pay 15 for 1 (yikes!) Personally, all the progressive video-poker games on POG are short-pay. There are other VP machines, but the pay tables have been cut from 2 year ago. For example, Colusa used to have a multi-denomination 9/6 JOB vp machines w/ progressive RF, where a flush triggered a free keno game resulting in ev of 100.6% assume 800 for 1 for the RF and that game is gone. Colusa offers many mailers and instant rewards program (must play through, no Cashback). Every 650 dollars of action equals one comp dollar or 15.38 basis points (0.1538%) good for restuarants and casino "stuff" from the gift shop. Again, no Cashback except via conversion of instant rewards program (aka bounce back welfare checks). I have no idea of the relationship between avg trip action and these weekly welfare checks so please don't ask. To be fair, Colusa offers numerous promotions such as ladies night, senior night, birthday bash, etc. Will check back in 3 months. My ratings would be (1-10 scale where a "10" is I'm parked there 24/7, a "7" is on my playlist, and a "5" is average): VP Game inventory: 3 Comp dollars*: 6 Cashback: 1 Service: YMMV, but safe to say a 5. Promotions**: 7 TiTo: Yes Other Info: 1 restuarant with okay food, below-average buffet, but has excellent late night specials, and service is YMMV. * Based on three adjustments: (1) Trippple points on Wednesdays, which increases comps to 46.15 basis points and (2) you can work the system and (3) live nearby within 10 minute drive. ** Very strong for this area, as the casino caters to locals.

Colusa Casino is located on Highway 45, about 50 miles (or thereabouts) north of Sacramento and just about 12 miles off Interstate 5. It's just a few hundred yards from the Sacramento River. This is one of the smaller Native American casinos with around 700 machines and maybe 8 table games. There is a small restaurant/buffet right in the middle of the casino (one of the noisier restaurants I've ever eaten at, actually). To keep this short: there is no particular reason to visit. There is no full pay video poker that I could find . . . all the games seem to be of the 8/5 Jacks, 7/5 Bonus Poker and 9/6 Double Bonus paytable types (in other words, expect about a 2.5% to 3.5% house advantage on VP games). Blackjack is the standard hit soft 17, double after split six deck shoe for a house advantage of around .65%. Finally, it is not located in a particularly attractive area (it's standard central California flat farm country). If you are driving up Highway 45 past Colusa anyway, sure - go ahead and stop in. Otherwise, you can pass on by and you will not have missed anything.
