I've stayed there quite a bit over the last year or so. I like staying there because they have the best bedding by far of all the Reno hotels. The suites are very nicely decorated and the bath products are from Bath and Body Works. The soaking tubs in the suites are quite relaxing as well. Room service, so far, has been excellent. They are prompt; they get the order right every time; and, the food is pretty good as far as room service goes. On the otherhand, there does seem to be some issues with the infrastructure. They provide free internet, but good luck getting it to work. It is very spotty and hit and miss, both the wireless and the ethernet. They make up for this somewhat by providing free internet access to hotel guests in their business center. We have also had issues with the heater not working. One time we were moved from a room with a heater that didn't work to another one where the shower would not provide hot water (the sink, tub, etc did -- but not the walk-in shower). The cordless phones may or may not have a love battery in them. So on some levels, they are a very nice play to stay, but they don't quite go that extra step and invest in their infrastructure. The casino is small, which I like. But contrary to Hamstocken's opinion, I have found it to be quite smoky at times. Because the place is small, if you have a smoker near you, especially a cigar smoker (and by near I mean a couple of banks away), the smoke and odor can be overwhelming. The ventilation system is not the best. The staff is very friendly and I think they have some of the friendliest slot attendants around. The 9/6 jacks are on slant tops, which is a huge plus for me. Food-wise, there are not a lot of choices, but I like what they have. The coffee shop in quite inexpensive and the food is decent as far as coffee shop fare goes. Lexie's is top notch. There new menu has a nice variety and the quality is very nice. They have an extensive wine list with some nice wines. They also have a wine bar with live jazz music most nights. The biggest negative to me with the Siena though, is the feeling of safety. The dregs of society wnader through fairly often. They are accross the street from a run down motel which seems to attract junkies and alcoholics. My friend was hit up for money when he was cashing out on a machine when the slot attendant was right there. I do feel uncomfortable going there by myself if I am not actually staying there. And I am always very watchful going into the elevator. Overall, I do like the Siena. I wish they had better games, but I also know a few pros playing a positive game there could break them, as they are a very small casino - so I don't blame them for not offering more. I think if they worked on the infrastructure and if they extended more efforts to keeping the junkies off the property, it would be hard to beat them in Reno if you want a nice, friendly, relaxing place to stay. Because they are smaller and don't have a huge number of high rollers there, a quarter player can get treated fairly well there in terms of comps and the like.

(4) of the 25c (10-coin) 10/7 DB are back.
Aug, 2005
Confirmed that 10/7 DB are all gone There is a bank of 10 MG/MD IGT slant tops neat the Contrada that have: $.50/$1 NSUD, 9/7 DB, 9/6 JoB, 9/5 DDB, all at 5 coin. There is a bank of 12 MG/MD IGT machines near the cashier. 3 machines in that bank have $.25/$.50/$1 10 coin 9/6 JoB. The 10 coin $.05 NSUD on progressive is still there. There are some uprights with $.25 8/5 BP near the hotel end of the casino. The 8/5 BP is of particular note because this is the highest percentage play in the casino. The database lists $.25 8/5 BP progressive, but I was unable to locate this. The inventory has been shuffled around a lot in the last year, so it's likely that these are gone. I did find $.25 7/5 BP progressive. For those that don't know, a very long running promotion at the Siena is a bonus on any quads on VP machines (excluding wild card games and 50/100 plays). The quad bonus requires max coin in, and is $2 on $.05/$.10 games, $5 on $.25/$.50 games, $10 on $1/$2 games, and $25 on $5/$10/$25 games. With the quad bonus, $.25 bonus poker becomes 100.11%, $.25 10 coin or $1 5 coin 9/6 JoB becomes 100.01%, both beating out the NSUD (since the quad bonus does not apply to wild card games). Various other games at low denominations end up above 99.5% with the quad bonus. They also have a double royal promotion that's been going on for a long time. If you hit 2 royals within 24 hours of each other, they will match the payout on the lesser royal (up to $4000). This used to be from midnight-midnight but is now within 24 hours (you get a card when you hit the first royal with the time on it so you know what time you have to hit the next one). The double royal bonus is valid on all VP machines, but only applies once/day (significant if you play 50/100 play machines). There are various other promotions as well, subject to change.

Siena: The $.25 10/7 DB (on 8 MG/MD slant tops) is now a 10 coin game. The game is full pay on 5-10 coins. The 3 upright 8/5 Bonus Poker $1 progressives are now $1 MG progressives, with the Bonus Poker reduced to 7/5. I don't know if any of the other 8/5 BP has survived. Slot club point coin in rate at the Siena seems to be about $14/point (used to be $12.50/point a year ago), cashback rate is about .07%, not sure what the comp rate is.

All 9/6 JOB MIA - we searched the entire casino (small) and all are less than 9/6. One bank of multdenominational multigame slantops near the Contrada has $.25 10/7 DB - all other denominations on machine are shorted. This bank has a sign advertising the bank as 100%+ on top. A $1 9/7 DB progressive near the bar at center of casino is a slow meter but can get positive As a side note - I love the rooms at the Siena!! Great linens and wonderful pillows. The corner rooms have great bathrooms with whirlpool tubs!! By far the nicest rooms in Reno. One more thing about Siena, they have free high speed internet access in the rooms and in the business center. Also Lexies has a great early bird dinner special with a 3-course gourmet meal for $12.95. It's a limited menu but absolutely fabulous. Entrees included a chicken with an apple and sun-dried cherry sauce, filet mignon, some sort of prawn entee and a fish entree we didn't try.

Siena downgraded all of their .25 VP. No more 10/7 progressives - they are now 9/6, no more 9/6 DDB progressives - they are now 9/5. They also downgraded all of the games in the 3 and 5 plays. Simply put, there are no more .25 decent plays anymore. They did not downgrade the $BP prog, nor the $9/6 JOB prog, but that was it.

My problem with the place , as a tourist with little time is - why bother? Certainly El Dorado, Silver Legacy, Cal/Virginian, Peppermill, Atlantis offer much better VP-comps-offers thus this out of the way place is hardly worth the effort. They would have to up the cashback to .4 before I'd ever put them on my short list. The Siena is the newest downtown Reno resort (to my knowledge); it's located on the "wrong" side of the Truckee River on Mill Street. It fronts the Truckee River between Center Street and Lake Street. The new owner really did a wonderful job of renovating the old property, in my opinion. It has an Italian city theme that is done quite well both outside and inside. One problem is that I've never seen them advertise multi-point times anywhere, nor have I ever received anything in the mail with good offers (although my play has been minimal so that may be the problem). So, on the surface, there doesn't seem to be any GREAT Play there . . . but there are some reasonable ones. To begin with, however, a couple of XVP notes. First, they have an excellent breakfast special in their coffee shop, the Contrada. It's 4 eggs, 4 sausage or bacon and 4 pancakes for $2.49, a heck of a deal for hearty eaters. Second, they have a good single deck blackjack game with double on anything for a house advantage of just .18%. However, it has been reported that management is pretty sharp so be careful trying advantage play for green chips or higher (I've never had any problem with my little $5 to $20 spread). The one thing about this property that puzzles me, and this returns to my earlier comment about them being on the wrong side of the Truckee River, is how they stay in business. I have never, ever seen them busy.
